professional organization for Community Midwives
The
Birthwise Midwifery School, located in Bridgton Maine,
was founded in 1994. The Birthwise Midwifery School is one of only a
dozen or so accredited/pre-accredited direct-entry midwifery schools
in the United States. Since no nursing degree is required,
direct-entry midwives can be certified and practicing within 3 years.
